The RAFW show was opened by THE model of the moment Myf Sheppard, wearing sombre, masculine tailoring – a look that continued throughout the rest of the show.
This was an extremely tight collection – the simple lines spoke volumes, achieving the perfect balance between elegant tailoring and a relaxed fit. Colours were typically Zambesi – greys, whites, silvers – which really made the crowd appreciate the few bright red garments that came down the runway.
What Zambesi has always done best is fabric. Consistently ahead of their time, the fabrics had subtle texture and sat on the body like a second skin.
Trends continue to cement themselves this week – with more sheer-over-block colour combinations appearing in this show – as well as drop crotch harem pants and lingerie influences.
Star pieces? The menswear. With a distinctly European flavour, it was form fitting, colourful and high fashion. It’s definitely time for the maiNstream New Zealand male to lift his game in the fashion department.
