Yu Mei debuted its first Winter capsule collection recently with the leather goods brand offering beautiful hues to brighten up the not so cheery weather. The new pieces are available online and at selected stockists around New Zealand, with two new colourways in key Yu Mei styles and a brand new design for the brand.

The gorgeous new hues on offer include Orchid, a charming purple with pink undertones, and a sublime Cobalt blue. Both tones are fresh to Yu Mei’s design palette and offer a welcome splash of colour in a season when a lot of kiwis favour black and grey. The Katherine Bucket is this season’s versatile design, and is offered alongide Yu Mei favourites, Braidy, Ch’lita, Jane, Sarah, Mischa and Vi.

Creative director Jessie Wong has been clear on Yu Mei’s design ethos from the beginning; ‘that simplicity is complexity resolved, each bag is built for purpose, to carry with ease.’ Every Yu Mei bag is handcrafted by a talented team of artisan leather craftsman and made from 100% South Island, New Zealand farmed and tanned deer nappa. It’s the same world class quality leather that is used by the likes of Prada, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Hermes and The Row for their bags.

To accompany the new capsule collection is a playful campaign he campaign shot by Yu Mei friend and muse Ch’lita Collins which features winsome model, Katie Hughes, and is styled by the talented Paris Mitchell-Temple. Yu Mei’s ranges really do go from strength to strength each season with this new collection a perfect example of Jessie Wong’s great eye for elegant design.
