Energetic fashion brand WORLD will open NZ Fashion Weekend 2017 at this year’s New Zealand Fashion Week in ten weeks time. WORLD are known for their colourful, avant-garde take on fashion and their spectacular shows that always deliver on theatricality. The brand made a dramatic return to the fashion week runway at last year’s NZ Fashion Weekend and are celebrating the 28th anniversary of WORLD this year.
“WORLD take a witty, fearless approach to fashion that is as much about personality as clothing. Their shows are always unexpected, creative and adventurous – a highlight of the week, and we are delighted to have them on board again this year,” says Dame Pieter Stewart, NZFW founder/director.
“Typically, fashion shows are a season ahead but NZ Fashion Weekend isn’t for buyers or media, it’s for the customers. I love that you can see something you like on the runway and purchase it online before you’ve even left the show. That’s the kind of instantaneous world that we’ve become accustomed to and I think the public has responded really well to that,” says Benny Castles, WORLD’s designer/director.
Founded by Denise L’Estrange-Corbet and Francis Hooper in Auckland in 1989, WORLD has become one of New Zealand’s leading fashion houses and is a testament to the energy, drive and creative vision of the duo. WORLD has enjoyed great success both locally and internationally and is stocked in top boutiques around the globe.
NZ Fashion Weekend is a wonderful opportunity for fashion fans to enjoy the best in local fashion with this year’s event held at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd September. Runway shows will give attendees a first-hand look at new collections for the spring/summer season and they can shop designer pieces at discounted prices at the always popular Designer Pop-up sale. Beauty fans will love the Beauty Hub where they can learn new tips and tricks as well as finding out about the latest beauty products from leading brands. WORLD’s spectacular opening show is the perfect way to kick off a fabulous weekend of NZ fashion.
