Wilson Trollope‘s gorgeous Autumn/Winter 2020 collection is in stores and online now with a stylish range of pieces to keep you cosy this season. Designer and founder Annabelle Wilson was inspired by New York and in particular how the city is seen in the work of artist Edward Hopper. so it was fitting that she named the range Nighthawks after Hopper’s famous 1942 painting which depicts a downtown diner late at night as viewed through the diner’s large glass window.
“I have always been drawn to New York. A romanticised city of opportunity, creativity, and a diverse array of everyday life,” says Annabelle. “Our latest collection Nighthawks, begins by exploring the city through the lens of American realist artist Edward Hopper. I love his ability to bring the feeling of the city and its architecture to life. He captures women in their own space. The light, the colours, the feeling. He celebrates what is urban, normal and day-to-day, while still invoking that excitement of untapped potential and opportunity.”
The designer echoed Hopper’s balance to create a collection that is both urban and whimsical like the artwork. That means simple but chic silhouettes that Wilson Trollope has become known for with playful spots and charming prints, not to mention classic stripes and checks. As always the brand pays particular attention to beautiful fabrics with silks, linens and cottons featuring in the range. Drawing inspiration from Hopper’s vivid palette are warm hues of magenta, burgundy and red that are perfectly complemented by navy, blue and grey. Wilson Trollope has much to offer this season with some looks that will no doubt become future classics of their own.
