Looks from Wilson Trollope's Birds of a Feather winter 2016 collection.
Wilson Trollope's winsome new winter 2016 collection has just launched and it's inspired by Ray Ching’s watercolour paintings of New Zealand birds. "The paintings are beautiful and the texture, colouring and form of the birds, along with their environment especially jumped out at me," says designer Annabelle Wilson. "Our bird inspiration has led us to a lot of textured fabrics – we have a mix of brushed wool, velvet, chunky soft knit and silk/cotton styles with a slight glint – a bit like the sheen of a birds feather in the right light. We have carefully chosen fabrics that not only look great, but have a high quality feel."
Casually elegant, the new collection is called 'Birds of a Feather' and has Wilson Trollope's signature feminine look while still being easy to wear and style. With so many lovely options to choose from Wilson says that her favourite pieces in the collection change as the season changes, with different items moving in and out of her favourite spot. "Right now I love the Habitat skirt worn with the Habitat top," says Wilson. "I like how both garments fall on the cross and the large check print falls everywhere – the print is very graphic and I enjoy the contrast of this with the soft flowy style. I also adore the Plumage coat which is made from 100% brushed wool and is very soft… it’s not quite cold enough to wear it yet, but I’m feeling that the time is not far away! My go to everyday is the Wing dress, it is made from a silk/cotton lawn and is perfect for layering right now. I’m wearing this with the Chatter Trench instead of a cardigan layer which is perfect for keeping the autumn chill off."
Wilson Trollope has just opened a pop-up store at Auckland's popular Ponsonby Central which showcases this new collection and will run until May 1st. With its beautifully rich, autumnal colour palette, flattering shapes and charming appeal we're sure this range will see the label acquiring many new fans this season.
