Where to buy reusable face masks from local brands

With Aotearoa New Zealand currently in Alert Level 4 for Auckland and the Coromandel for at least seven days and the rest of the country for at least three days, we’re in the position of needing face masks to leave the house. The government has mandated mask use when you have to go out for essential services like a visit to the supermarket to help control the spread of the Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus.

While there are currently disposable face masks available at supermarkets and pharmacies there are also a range of local brands making reusable face masks that are meant to be worn once and then washed thoroughly. If you’re going for the reusable kind the advice is to buy two so you can have a clean one available while one is being washed.

Why does wearing a face mask matter? Face masks are effective as they create a barrier between your mouth and nose and anyone around you. They do this by helping reduce the respiratory droplets from your coughs and sneezes reaching others and anyone else’s reaching your nose and mouth.
