What's in your handbag: Nicky Shore

Nicky Shore is a beauty junkie from way back and her career has included positions with L'Oreal , Maybelline New York, and Garnier. Now she has opened OFF, a specialist waxing bar.  FashioNZ finds out whats in her makeup bag…

If we were to tip out your handbag, what would we find?
I think a tornado might best describe it!  My handbag is one of those that comes with a lot of ‘oh that's where that is’ comments.   Important things are my Blackberry, wallet and digital camera.  I also have my makeup bag with the daily essentials and ‘little bits’ bag in which I have contact lenses, hair ties, clips,  mini perfumes and some random things.   There are chewing gum or mints and  I have a roll of little plastic bags for if I have the dogs with me (being a responsible dog owner!)  I also have to admit to enough coins floating in the bottom to fill a slot machine.

What is your all time favourite product
Billion Dollar Brows Brow Powder… this product seriously has changed my life – well my brows at least!  I can’t believe I went for years without powdering my brows.  Now when I look back at pics of me without brow powder I just want to draw them in overtop!

What is your morning beauty routine
Part of my routine is taking the dogs Elmo and Elvis for a run every morning – though at the end I always look worse!  I shower and exfoliate all over with a riffi mitt and body scrub, cleanse my face and condition my hair.  Then I apply some Make Believe gradual tan (great for the summer skin), prep my skin with an eyecream, serum and daily mosituriser with SPF.  I don’ t have one favourite brand and often change as I am a bit of a magpie!   Then it is a quick and easy make up of Smashbox Photofinish primer, concealer, Halo mineral foundation, a slick of O-gloss, lashings of Blinc Mascara and the most important thing for me, powdering and shaping my brows with the Billion Dollar Brows brow powder with one of our OFF dual ended brushes.   Hair is then dried into what can be described as most manageable that day (I am growing out my hair so every day is a surprise!).

What is your never fail, quick three minute routine
A quick brush over with the Halo Powder gives a great base. Next brows are a must, any gaps, once they have been filled in suddenly make you groomed. And finishing off with a lashing of mascara and a touch of lip gloss probably leaves you with a minute to spare. I’m all about quick and easy from cooking to makeup!

What is your evening beauty routine?
Take it off!  I can’t stand going to bed with any make up on, so I cleanse with a foaming face wash but also use a make up remover sometimes to be double sure.  Then I apply serum, eye cream and moisturiser (at the moment I am trying the L’Oreal Pore Minimising one and have to say it is great!).  Then its floss, brush and bed!

Do you have any beauty tip that you would care to share?
All I can say is Brow Powder!   My own brows have natural gapsy gappy and can be a bit recessive.  Brow powder well applied instantly makes them look like statement brows and full, hiding a multi-tude of sins!  I think brow powder is the most under rated make up around.

What has been your biggest beauty blunder?
I wish someone had told me when I was younger that colour matching your scrunchie with your eyeshadow was not cool.  But lets be honest… scrunchies?  What was I thinking anyway.

What are you wearing on your lips this summer?
I'm so excited wearing the new O Plump by Smashbox. It’s a gloss that goes on clear and changes with the moisture in your lips so you end up with a colour that is only for you. And the tingling on your lips is the signal for the added plumping effects.

What is your desert island product?
Blinc Mascara – If I’m stranded on a desert island I want a fantastic waterproof mascara so I can spend my days swimming and not get panda eyes from all the smokey fires at night whilst I am waiting for that plane to come get me!

What are your 5 biggest indulgences?
Chocolate, wine, a great facial, having a haircut and colour at Biba Salon and sleep!
