Briarwood Winter 2013
I'm listening to Frank Ocean, hot chocolate by my side and dog in my lap. If I wasn't still wearing a sleeveless blouse I'd think these were the makings of a cosy winter's night.
But it's about 18 degrees outside and we have but barely tiptoed into autumn, still I can't help but be a little excited and here's why:

Autumn fashion, the rich hues of mustard, teal, cranberry and chocolate are starting to appear in stores and at home; it’s a glorious mix! This Moroccan pouf (above) by Let Liv incorporates the luxury and warmth of leather, a bit like the way my feet will feel in these ‘to-die-for’ Kathryn Wilson boots.

There is something so comforting about the prospect of layering – like a warm throw over a comfy chair; a structured blazer adorned with a decadent pashmina maintains a sense of comfort with an edge. Try adding these gorgeous Moroccan-style earrings by Charlotte Penman (below) to push this look to another level. I love Robyn Mathieson colour palette this season too.

Much to my delight there is also a hit of print coming through this season which will serve the more practical purpose of being seen on a cold, crisp night while also ensuring that we stand a good chance of stopping traffic for all the right reasons! Coop really hits its stride this season with some bold colour – a tasteful nod to neon can also be found on the home front too.

Briarwood’s winter campaign speaks to my autumn roots. Being a May baby I couldn’t help but make a connection between the earthy taupes and olives of the Mary Jane’s and riding boots to another favourite of mine, the Kilim rug. Like well-crafted pieces of leather, these rugs get better with age and maintain earthy and organic qualities, as many are made using natural dyes.

Welcoming May also means turning 30, and I can’t say I’m exactly looking forward to this prospect, but on the flipside I am just glad that the fashion trends for the home, and for me, this season do not disappoint. So I’ll be embracing everything that there is to love about style this autumn, to ensure that I don’t get cold feet!
