Victory Books Launches Eclectic Store at Eugenie
Book lovers are in for a treat with the arrival of Victory Books inside Eugenie on Ponsonby's Mackelvie Street, which stocks a collection of rare, secondhand and new publications on art, fashion and photography. It's the creation of local photographer, Adam Bryce, who has curated the selection that tells the story of a life lived in and around fashion: his mentors, muses, friends, brands he’s worked with and those he considers icons of the culture are all on show.
Bryce will keep evolving the stock list as he seeks out collectable titles both new and old from around the world to create a collection that is eclectic and regularly updated. At Victory Books you'll find a local, contemporary $5 zine on the same shelf as a rare first edition priced at $1200. As you can see from the images there are some fascinating hard to find books which will make great reading in the chillier months ahead.
Alongside Victory Books sits Karma by Adam Bryce, which is a unisex merchandise line inspired by homemade zines, bootleg band merch and the culture of counterfeit. It's a light-hearted take on the often all too serious world of fashion which Bryce has worked in as a stylist, creative director, trend forecaster and photographer. With regular new drops, affordable prices and a good humoured approach, Karma is what it is and can be found amongst the book shelves.
