Twelve Warm Winter Coats

Some people are summer people, and others really love winter. I’m a self confessed summer girl, and the reason I like warm weather over winter is that I really hate being cold! A good coat helps solve that problem though, and I think the one upside for cooler weather is that you can layer up and show more of your style through your clothes. We’ve found some great coats from local labels and online stores to help you snuggle up this winter and keep the cold at bay, whether you’re dreaming of a tropical getaway or out braving the chilly weather.

When it comes to winter coats I think it’s a good idea to start with a staple in a neutral colour (think black, grey, navy and camel) – something that you can mix and match with lots of outfits in your wardrobe so that you can wear it with basically anything. If you get something in a classic style then it can see you through year after year.

Is there anything more glam than a coat with a fur collar? I love the look of fur collars (faux, of course), and many of the styles now have detachable collars so you can have the best of both worlds and have two different looks in one coat.

Sara Empire Coat, $169.99 from EziBuy (left), Boohoo Plus Jourdan Wool Look Wrap Front Coat, $60.00 from (centre), Sara Animal Coat, $99 from EziBuy (right).

Not everyone wants to go neutral, and I totally understand that (or maybe you like to have options in your wardrobe). Maybe you have a favourite colour or pattern that you’d like to rock with a statement coat?

Zip Detail Melton Coat, $84.99 from Autograph (left), Make Me Blush Coat, $199.99 from City Chic (centre), Faux Trim Overcoat with Hood, $135.92 from K&K Fashions (right).

My favourite ever coat was a red fit and flare style with gold coloured buttons that I inherited from my grandmother – it was gorgeous and made me feel like I was dressing up every time I put it on! Find your fabulous coat and let it tell your style story.
