2020 has been a stressful year, to say the least, and the extra pressure in our normal, everyday life can leave us feeling a bit overwhelmed and frazzled. In times like these, it is so important to take care of ourselves not just on the inside but on the outside too, the perfect time to “treat yourself” some may say. Here in Auckland, we are lucky to have so many amazing places to retreat to for some much-needed relaxation away from work, away from home and away from responsibilities – so we have rounded up our top picks for some spa treatments for your pampering pleasure.
Chuan Spa Restore Your Wellbeing Package
Nestled away in the heart of Auckland’s bustling inner city is Chuan Spa at the Cordis Hotel. Chuan Spa is one of our absolute favourite spots to visit for a pampering sesh. Chuan Spa currently has an exclusive “Restore Your Wellbeing” package, only available for a limited time. Which includes a heavenly hot stone back massage, a soothing head massage that incorporates Chinese herbs, a jade facial massage and finished off with a foot scrub and foot massage.
Hana Red Light Therapy
Situated in Grey Lynn, Hana Spa has recently opened up its doors and is the first of its kind in New Zealand, offering Photobiomodulation (PBM) also known as low-level laser therapy, which uses specific wavelengths of red and near-red infrared light to help with pain, inflammation and to stimulate healing. Hana offers infrared saunas that can be booked for up to 45 minutes at a time, whereas the red light therapy pods can be used for 20-minute sessions. The perfect lunch-time healing treat for those of you on the go, again!
Ikoi Enzyme Spa
For something a little different, head over to North Shores Takapuna for a traditional Japanese Enzyme Spa. This deep heating ritual has been around for over 90 years, the dry spa consists of rice bran, pinewood sawdust and Japanese enzymes sourced from fruits and vegetables. It is said that the dry spa has many health benefits such as relieving tension, detoxifying the body, improving sleep quality, aiding weight loss, helping with muscular pain and improving digestion. Relax in the enzyme spa while the therapist covers your body in the blend while giving you a shoulder and scalp massage. Bliss.
Salt Cave Halotherapy
Salt Cave Halotherapy is a great treatment to aid in the recovery of a winter cold. It helps to clear your lungs of toxins and viral infections, with clinical studies shown that Salt Cave Halotherapy can help to relieve allergies, coughs and colds, hayfever, bronchitis and headaches as well as skin conditions, sleep disorders and anxiety. During a session, you will breathe in fine salt aerosols (salt air) as well as absorbing them into the body. Each session lasts for 45 minutes and is suitable for children and adults.
Skintopia Proskin facial
Our final indulgence treatment pick is a Proskin facial from Skintopia. Newly opened up in Auckland’s Commerical Bay, Skintopia offers a Proskin 30-minute or 60-minute facial for those of us on the go. It is a bespoke facial which targets specific skin concerns, with the 60-minute version incorporating LED light therapy to aid in the healing of the skin. A perfect mid-day pick me up.
