The event will be held at Auckland’s Shed 10
With a line-up that includes beauty masterclasses, bargains and pamper stations (including a one-of-a-kind mancave), along with epic drag sensations including the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 1, Kita Mean, it’s not hard to see why the inaugural Beauty Nation event is being dubbed the Coachella of Beauty.
To be held at Auckland’s Shed 10 on 6 and 7 May, the two-day event promises a two-day fully immersive festival experience for beauty lovers. It is set to showcase some of New Zealand’s best and biggest beauty brands. Beauty Nation Co-Founder Chrissy Ve says she is thrilled to offer what will be an unmatched experience for beauty lovers.
“As we all know, there is a craving for human connection after a challenging couple of years for the events sector, along with a gap in the market to serve Kiwi beauty consumers, so what better time than now to bring something so special and unique to our doorstep for beauty lovers,” she says.
Highlights on the event schedule are set to include keynote speeches by both Antipodes Founder and CEO and 2018 New Zealand Entrepreneur of the Year (Product) Elizabeth Barbalich and ed&i Founder and reality TV star Edna Swart, as well as a full drag demonstration and meet and greet by much-loved drag superstar and winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 1, Kita Mean.
“I am so honoured to be involved in this monumental event for the New Zealand beauty industry. My signature drag makeup has been my best-kept secret for over a decade now but finally, all my secrets will be revealed at Beauty Nation. I will be doing some never before seen things in the Drag District of the festival, and I can’t wait to share in the fun with everyone that comes along. Who knows, maybe you might get the chance to have your makeup done by me,” teases Mean.
“From much-loved brands like Antipodes, BraveFace, The Whitening Co, Glow Lab, ed&i, Linden Leaves, and OMni Balms to some of New Zealand’s biggest names in drag, event attendees will have access to an incredible two days of all things the best in Beauty,” says Chrissy Ve.
In all, the event will be host to six interactive zones – a Retail Lane, Beauty School, Pamper Lounge, Drag Zone, Aotearoa Made, and a Man Cave.
With a key focus on celebrating diversity and cultural inclusivity, Beauty Nation looks set to deliver a weekend to remember for all ages.
