The Plain White Tee

There is so much to consider when shopping for the Plain White Tee. Do you go crew neck or v-neck?

Do you buy one with a pocket? Do you opt for fitted or loose? Should you spend $50? Should you spend $500? It all depends.

The age old #fashionfirstworldproblem occurs when you buy the perfect Plain White Tee, then, after a few years, it isn’t so perfect. It’s a bit stretched, a bit bally, a bit, old.

What to do then?

Should you have purchased 10 to begin with, to avoid such an issue? No, I believe it’s the fashion gods telling you to mix it up a little! The Plain White Tee can, and should, evolve as you do. What suits a 20-year-old won’t (and shouldn’t!) suit a 40-year-old.

The variation on your age, size, price range, and location to small children with sticky fingers will depend on what type of Tee you buy. But you must have one.

The Plain White Tee oozes the sort of ‘North Shore living’ many aspire too, even when pretending not to. It says, I’m cool, I’m relaxed, I just threw this on over my shorts/jeans/cutoffs/whatever because everything I do is effortless, and I know you want my life.

Finding that perfect Plain White Tee doesn’t have to involve the cavalry and a fight for the motherland. If you’re young, mix it up a little. Get one with a pocket, get one that’s a little fitted.

If you’re pregnant, obviously look for one that’s a little larger, and if you’re older, and not so in love with your arms anymore, get one with a longer sleeve. It’s not rocket science, but it is essential to your wardrobe.

You’ll find most stores (both physical and online) have a basics range. That is a great place to start for the perfect Plain White Tee.
