The Perfect Pair of Jeans…Do they Exist?

The first step is to know your body type. Our friends at Gloss have combined a useful guide to knowing your body type that will help you ascertain which type of jeans will look great on you. Read it here .

If you’re one of the lucky few to be blessed with slim legs then skinny jeans look amazing. I’m actually a fan of the skinnier, the better when it comes to jeans, but alas, the skinniest pairs are not always the most flattering (least of all on me!). If you have an athletic figure or if you are petite and slim, skinny jeans are your best bet. Not only do they draw attention to your great legs, if you are petite they help elongate your legs (you have to love that!)

I love the Licks range from Lee, for an affordable and fashion forward option. Beware though – these are super tight and not for the faint of heart!

Boyfriend/Straight leg
The boyfriend jean is hot this season and looks great on tall women – and the slouchy style means if you’re curvier these still look great. But if you’re a little on the shorter side, you can still wear these. Team them with some cute heels and this will elongate your legs and look great. My pick would be to wear the boyfriend jean with some ‘shooties’ (shoe-boots), a pretty top and blazer to keep the look feminine. The Karen Walker ‘boyfriend’ jeans are a favourite in the office. These are very cool and on-trend. And the good news is, if you’re curvier you can definitely get away with wearing these. These are a great, on-trend buy for taller women. Karen Walker’s new Runaway collection features some cut cropped denim. Check out the latest range at

If you’re an apple or pear shape, as many women are, go for jeans with a slight flare. If you’re a pear shaped woman, flared jeans look great as they draw attention away from the thighs and bottom, and give a nice a line shape. If you’re more of an apple shape, a slight boot cut jean looks great, especially when paired with some heels. Here at FashioNZ, we love the range from Not Your Daughters Jeans. These clever jeans are designed to slim the abdomen, contour the hips and lift the butt, great for concealing all those problem areas! Go to for more information.

If you are a curvy woman with an hourglass shape, for one, we are jealous! Secondly, hipster jeans look great on this shape as they accentuate your curves and hug in all the right places! Try this great pair of Riders from Lee Denim.
