The Dyson Airwrap revolutionised the world of hairstyling when it was first launched in 2018, and the brand has released a next generation update of the best-selling multi-styler that’s now available online in Aotearoa. While the initial product was a clever feat in engineering, Dyson’s engineers challenged themselves to take their technology further by miniaturising and multiplying the Coanda effect, pioneering a personalisable styling tool that delivers a range of styles for different hair types, without extreme heat that can damage the hair.
The new version of the Dyson Airwrap combines the results that were formerly achieved with two barrels into one attachment which means customers can style their full head, creating clockwise and anti-clockwise curls and waves, without the need to switch attachment mid-style. Making the product quicker and easier to use for everyday styling.
The Dyson Airwrap allows the customer to create natural, voluminous curls using the power of air and clever engineering while hiding flyaways out of sight for a smoother, shiny finish. It utilises powerful and precise airflow to deliver wet to dry styling, styling hair from damp (80% dry), while reducing the reliance on extreme heat and preserving the hair from unnecessary damage.

The next generation version also has reengineered brush attachments which deliver precision shaping with enhanced Coanda performance, alongside an all-new dual-purpose Coanda smoothing dryer. By combining two attachments in one, the Coanda smoothing dryer hides flyaways in a single pass and remarkably, also transforms into a powerful dryer with the flick of a switch making it a truly versatile product.
Those customers with curly hair will love the Dyson Airwrap’s widetooth comb attachment, which is specifically engineered for curly and coily hair and helps to add shape, volume, and length as it dries. The comb teeth of the attachment are carefully designed with soft curved tips to glide through the hair, without catching or pulling.
Understanding the need for existing customers to want to utilise the new features of the updated multi-styler, for the first time those who already own and love their Dyson Airwrap can upgrade by purchasing these latest attachments, while retaining their original machine. It’s a smart and sustainable move by Dyson, recognising a need to reduce waste that goes to landfill from those upgrading their technology.
The design process also adopted a sustainable approach, opting for digital prototypes to reduce the energy and materials used for physical versions. Through this process of trial and error, engineers have been able to miniaturise air vents to achieve a level of airflow velocity, pressure and control never seen before. This means the Dyson Airwrap has increased efficiency, enhanced performance with reduced energy consumption, which is win-win for your hair and the planet.

The new Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler is available online now from Dyson for $999 and will be available from retailers from 7th July. It includes six attachments: the Coanda smoothing dryer, soft smoothing brush, firm smoothing brush, round volumising brush, 30mm barrel and 40mm barrel, both of which are available in standard and long barrels to cater for long and short hair. The new attachments are also available from Dyson for $99 per attachment.
