The collection is a unique collab between Ahlem and Jorden Bickhem
Sometimes in life, there is an unexpected connection between two people, which then grows to embrace a wider group of like-minded personalities.
Such is the case with a new limited-edition collection from eyewear brand Ahlem, in a uniquely special collaboration with Vogue fashion editor Jorden Bickhem.
The collaboration came about after a friendship was struck between founder Ahlem Manai-Platt and Jorden Bickhem at the CFDA Fashion Awards in 2017.
Although their interaction was fleeting, it left an impression: Ahlem was struck by Jorden’s luminous calm and sense of purpose. Recalling that radiant energy years later as she prepared to launch the collaboration, Ahlem sensed that Jorden was someone to approach. As usual, intuition paid off. Over far-ranging conversations, the pair discovered a common language, including a shared interest in social and political justice.
The resulting Ahlem x Jorden Bickham offering is driven by a desire to communicate a message of solidarity, with 100% of proceeds from the frame to be donated to Gays and Lesbians Living in a Transgender Society (G.L.I.T.S. NYC), supporting its efforts in fighting systems of discrimination by providing TLGBQUIA+ and BIPOC individuals with access to healthcare and housing services, among other basic human rights.
The Jorden frame, which is the result of this partnership, is an emblem of the causes that connect the pair.
The frame’s design is deeply personal and inspired by Bickham’s partner, photographer Soraya Zaman’s very own safety frames. Developed over a year, the fluidity of the design accentuates its wearer’s features.

Furthering the desire to encourage inclusivity, campaign imagery for The Jorden features nine enigmatic portraits, shot by Bickham herself, and her partner Soraya Zaman.
