Long-established Auckland fashion label Taylor will open a new boutique in Britomart’s newest fashion development later this year.
Fashion designer Vicki Taylor is the latest retailer to announce the opening of a new boutique at Britomart.
The Taylor Boutique store will be part of the new food and fashion development about to get underway in the centre of the precinct. The complex of eight boutiques centred around a courtyard restaurant will also house a new flagship store for Karen Walker.
The new boutique will be the fourth for Vicki Taylor, who launched her eponymous fashion label with the opening of her first boutique on Jervois Road in 1999. Today she also has stores in Newmarket and central Wellington, and a loyal customer base that returns to her designs season after season.
The Taylor label is designed around high-quality fabrics sourced from the world’s best mills, and fabrics such as New Zealand merino feature strongly in the collections. All garments are proudly manufactured in New Zealand, where Vicki can keep production runs small, detail-orientated and bespoke.
“We’re really excited to be opening a new Taylor experience in the Britomart area,” says Vicki. “Britomart was a simple choice for us as we’ve long been fans of the Cooper and Company vision. Using the community of existing buildings to create a new and vibrant area is the catalyst for Britomart becoming the beating heart of the Auckland CBD."
Construction will begin on the new boutique and restaurant complex in early August and is expected to be complete, with all new stores open, in December 2012.
The Kathryn Wilson and Trelise Cooper Boardroom pop-up stores previously located on the site of the new development will be temporarily housed elsewhere in the precinct. Both stores will remain open for business and will relocate back into the new development in December.
