Tanya Carlson knows what women want from their clothing and the designer’s current Summer 2019/20 collection offers pieces that make dressing easy. Tanya has been creating beautiful collections for her beloved womenswear brand for over 20 years and her many loyal customers appreciate her impeccable tailoring and eye for feminine designs.
This season she has created a pared back range of summer essentials that offers simple styles that suit a range of body shapes. The focus is on versatile pieces that are able to be worn from day to night or to the influx of occasions that the summer season brings with it. The Sarah Dress is a popular style with its subtle a-line skirt, shaped bust and tie-sleeves making for a timeless garment that can be worn season after season. Tanya’s elegant Cantina Tee is a favourite style that is available in new hues of turquoise, watermelon and cornflower this season. The designer’s vibrant choice of colour palette certainly suits the joyfulness of summer.
Another key style from the range is an update of Tanya’s sell-out Piña Colada dress, the new version has the same silhouette but has been re-named as the Butterfly dress in reference to the addition of its charming flutter sleeves. Customers looking for the perfect simple summer dress will love the Swing Dress with its v neck and breezy shape. It’s an easy go-to style in crisp white or winsome lilac.
The imagery for the campaign was shot in Tanya’s favourite Auckland surfing spot of Piha with the talented David Shields photographing her gorgeous summer pieces on location. The designer couldn’t resist adding a few gowns into the shoot from her extensive archive which adds a romantic feel to this collection of images.
Each piece is carefully made in New Zealand with the designer producing all her collections locally since the inception of her Carlson brand. She designs every garment in her Ponsonby workroom which enables her to create bespoke and custom pieces while also designing seasonal ranges. There’s something special about having a garment made to fit you and it’s a service Tanya enjoys offering her customers who get the benefit of the designer’s experienced eye for fit and design. After all thoughtful, timeless design never goes out of style.
