Auckland party spot Sale St once again turned it on last Thursday, kicking off its fashion experiences for the year with a delightful blend of fashion and fine-dining, featuring a colourful mixture of top designers at Fashion Fusion.
As a sold-out of crowd of fashionistas and foodies alike sat down to a scrumptious threecourse meal by head chef Nick Honeymoon (inspired by the designers' favourite ingredients), our MC outlined the plan for the long-lunch and fashion show combo.
Opening the show was the Augustine range, which was accompanied by our entree of scallops with, unusually enough, popcorn! The delightful starter was the perfect partner to the runway show, which featured a colourful and dramatic blend of stylish and unexpected designs. Some definite eye-catchers here!
Served shortly after, our main course of coffee-rubbed lamb was the perfect pairing with Egoist, a favourite menswear designer of mine with a distinctive European flair. Egoist’s showing combined an exciting blend of winter-appropriate shades with the brand’s signature pop of colour complimenting each look.
Incorporating elements of fun and frivolity into her new season range, designer Celine Rita’s show was the third down the runway. The showing partnered with a delectable dessert that was as light and girly as the display from this young designer. Styles included luxurious crushed velvet, as well as a variety of prints and colours on many interesting fabrics.
All in all, a fantastic afternoon out – with weather, stylish designs and food that couldn’t be beaten.
