Melbourne Cup events were in full swing yesterday and The Harbourside and Botswana Butchery “Melbourne Cup Long Lunch” sought to inspire guests with the latest looks from Tanya Carlson, Hailwood and Zambesi as well as the horse racing. Over 400 guests attended the sell-out event with the fashion show being helmed by fashion stalwart, Myken Stewart, who curated the runway looks alongside her talented team of dressers and producers.
Kiekie Stanners, Senior Makeup Artist at MAC designed the fresh beauty looks which perfectly complemented the gorgeous spring fashion. She is one of New Zealand’s leading makeup artists and has worked with some of Australasia’s top fashion magazines not to mention designed makeup for many local and international fashion week shows. The hair was created by Sid Bahree, who is one of ‘Servilles Luxury Hair Salons’ shining stars. His expertise lead an experienced team in creating elegant looks that perfectly suited the designer collections.
“I’m really enjoying working with the designers and team on this Melbourne Cup fashion show project,” says Fashion Show Organizer Myken Stewart. “We have a line-up of the industries most experienced teams so it was exciting to see it come together. The show itself was relaxed in nature and the models wove through tables at both restaurants, allowing guests to these in-season collections close up.”
Winsome models from Red 11 gracefully showcased looks from the designer ranges which included Zambesi’s new collection Kaleidoscope which reflects their modern take on spring fashion. Stunning new collections by Tanya Carlson and Hailwood (whose cactus print is a hot one this season) also provided guests with plenty of charming ideas for dressing up this season. The event was MC’d by TV and radio personality, Mike Puru with prizes awarded from the likes of Hawaiian Airlines, Mercedes Benz and Kordis Hotel (formerly Langham Hotel) for best dressed attendees.
