Designer Turet Knuefermann from Knuefermann.
Turet Knuefermann is known for her clean, sophisticated designs which make her eponymous label Knuefermann popular with many kiwi women. She combines chic European influences with a clever eye for draping and getting a garment to sit just so, which make her pieces unmistakably feminine and utterly covetable.
We caught up with Turet to find out more about her brand, what inspires her and what you would never catch her wearing!

Describe your personal style and how it influences your brand?
I love masculine pieces worn in a feminine way – Tailored men’s pants teamed with a silk shirt. Life is busy and I like to look comfortable but professional, so classic shapes in luxurious fibres are my go-to and it’s what I want to offer my customers. Even our dresses are all about a striking silhouette which has a strong impact through their simplicity.
What is your all-time favourite purchase?
My Berlin Pant… dress it up with a silk halter or down with a t-shirt – it never fails me – the perfect cut to team with both a sneaker for running around during the day or with heels for evening, even cocktail.
What wardrobe item should every woman invest in?
A white silk shirt.
Do you have a style rule you always obey?
No more than 3 colours – this includes jewellery & shoes… it just works.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Opening the new Fanshawe Street store which acts as a gallery for the clothes. Its such a beautiful historical building and the space is so relaxing and grand with it’s beautifully sophisticated fit-out. I have met so many interesting and amazing people in the stores and I spend as much time as I can going there.
What can’t you live without?
My raincoat! I feel like I reach for it all the time – it doubles as a windbreaker and is perfect for New Zealand weather! For the French Markets in the mornings and beach walks at night it always saves the day!
Finish this sentence – You would never catch me wearing…
Hmmmm I have learnt never to say never!
