Sisters Lizzie and Georgie Renkert founded their beautiful womenswear label We Are Kindred in 2013, with the brand gaining a loyal following for its gorgeous designs that have a touch of bohemia. We were bewitched by We Are Kindred’s stunning show at this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and their Resort collection from the runway called ‘Floridita’ has just been released online and at Kindred stockists.
We caught up with Lizzie and Georgie to find out more about their brand, what inspires them and what you would never catch them wearing!
Tell us about your latest collection?
Our latest collection ‘Floridita’ is a beautiful collection which combines old world elegance with a Kindred twist.
Eclectic beautiful prints in detailed but wearable shapes.
Adagio features ombre florals, lurex accents, spliced prints, luxe brocades… all in berry/sky and cinnamon tones.
There is a real sense of ease in the collection.
What made you become designers?
Georgie has a fashion design background and Lizzie worked in fashion magazines for years before we decided to pool our talents and skills and build our little Kindred dream. We wouldn’t change it for the world. Building a brand from scratch and working on our own terms is a dream.
What inspires you?
Mainly colours and prints. Places we have been and dream to go.
Interiors.
Muses such as Grace Kelly through to Kate Moss.

Describe your personal style/s and how it influences your brand?
Georgie – I would say I have a boho luxe aethetic – usually I’m in a pretty floral dress with biker boots or trainers.
Lizzie is similar to Georgie but a little more polished – swap out the biker boot for a platform sandal, and add on a blazer.
Our styles influence our brand in the sense that we design what we love to wear. Great dress shapes and tops to pair back with jeans are the key to our business.
What is your all-time favourite purchase?
Georgie – I have a few vintage floral dresses that I have picked up on my travels throughout the years. They are items I would not part with if you paid me! And my new taupe Chloe boots.
What wardrobe item should every woman invest in?
We both think that would have to be a really great timeless handbag in camel or nude.
Do you have a style rule you always obey?
Either legs or chest showing – never both!

What has been the highlight of your career/s so far?
Fashion week this year was a highlight – we loved the collection so much and the response was amazing.
Also, working together and with our small but amazing team is a daily highlight!
What can’t you live without?
Each other! And our phones and a glass of red wine.
