Tell us about your latest collection?
The Summer 2017 range draws inspiration from sportswear and resort clothing from the 50s and 60s, along with a heavy focus on prints – garments that are designed for practical purposes that are fun and whimsical to match the time of year.
What made you become a designer?
I’ve always been interested in clothing, and as soon as I found that I could have an influence I went for it and didn’t really consider anything else.
What inspires you?
People that I see in pictures, friends and my close peers that challenge me to think differently. Visiting new places where you tend to look around a bit more and be more aware of your surroundings and the people you see is always inspiring. I’ll be in the USA over the next couple of weeks which is my absolute favourite place to visit.

Describe your personal style and how it influences your brand?
It’s based in classic styles that are always relevant but put together in an irreverent and playful way that you might not expect – I think sampling is the key to modern design and culture. With Gubb & Mackie we are continually adding to our range of essential items that will always be available, and complement this with some more seasonal quick-fire items.
What is your all-time favourite purchase?
Probably items that have a story attached to them that I still cherish – like the M-65 jacket I bought in New York the first time I went there.
What wardrobe item should every man invest in?
For me it’s sneakers – just for comfort and practicality, I think you can wear them with most any modern clothing.
Do you have a style rule you always obey?
Invest in the items that you will wear heavily.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The opening of our store, this marked a real shift for me in my life and career.
What can’t you live without?
Now that it’s getting hotter, probably iced coffees.
