Jenny Joblin is the visionary designer and founder of cult streetwear label Federation and its newer sister label SOMEKIND. Jenny has always had an artistic approach to design and in 2015 held her first art exhibition titled ‘Somekind of dream to fly’. Since then Federation has entered a new chapter and SOMEKIND has evolved into seasonal clothing collections with Jenny’s handwriting across it all.
We caught up with Jenny to find out more about her brands, what inspires her and what you would never catch her wearing!
Tell us about your latest collection?
Our latest collection for Federation womenswear was based around a colour palette of primaries. It was where I started, normally I start with a piece of art or random thought, but this time it was a bit different. It then took me to star denim and some bold prints. This season also saw us introduce slides which we have been developing and really love. For SOMEKIND it was all about dreaming – and the notable beautiful floral fabric that we turned into a collection of garments that can mix and match to see you through the warm days. We also put some cool accessories in the mix with quartz silver earrings and scarves.
What made you become a designer?
Being a designer combines my love of art and fashion nicely. Being creative as much as possible is just my favourite thing. And owning the label completes the situation with my love of business and the aspects that it takes to run one well.
What inspires you?
Day to day life inspires me the most. Getting out and going for a walk or run normally gets my inspiration going, that also combines the space to be able to develop thoughts.

Describe your personal style and how it influences your designs?
My personal style is mostly a juxtaposition of street with a bit of pretty. I love denim, leather and t-shirts. And mixing them with pretty dresses, skirts and tops. A pair of chucks or some other comfy and cool trainers are normally on my feet. I love heels but only commit to wearing them when I know it will not be for very long or a lot of seating involved.
What is your all-time favourite purchase?
My favourite purchase is always a good handbag. I also have a pair of Domo couches that I just love so much.
What wardrobe item should everyone invest in?
A good quality leather jacket. It just goes with so much and completes so many outfits and is just a great go to.
Do you have a style rule you always obey?
I do think consciously before I wear more than 3 colours or patterns.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight of my career was my art exhibition. It was so nice to come out from behind the brand. And where the brand and company is now is a highlight, I’m really excited about the future.
What can’t you live without?
It sounds cheesy but just so darn true… my children and husband! But if we are talking things – a good pillow!
Finish this sentence – You would never catch me wearing…
Never say never ….
