Cristina Figursky is the co-founder and designer of Wild Wagon which recently debuted it’s first contemporary jewellery collection. Cristina has a background in photography and illustration which translates to a sharp eye for great design and is reflected in Wild Wagon’s eye-catching jewellery. The brand is inspired by the wandering nomads of the past and present, and offers intricately designed jewellery pieces that all have a unique story to tell. Cristina also has a focus on sustainability and sources responsibly for the brand’s materials and packaging, only producing limited runs of each piece and minimising waste in the process.

We caught up with Cristina to find out more about her brand, what inspires her and what you would never catch her wearing!

Tell us about your latest collection?
Our debut collection features six pieces of jewellery created for the curious, artistic, well-traveled woman. When designing I always strive to create pieces that allow us to outwardly express our inner-self.

This collection is the starting point of an adventure of endless exploration; a new opportunity to engage in your curiosity, discover new creative territory and more of yourself in the process. Our product is distinctly our own. Not a followed, mass-market trend but authentic designs that are timeless, beautiful and considered.

What made you become a designer?
Art is all I’ve ever known growing up, so it was a natural progression from learning to now designing and creating tangible pieces.

What inspires you?
Whatever stands at the intersection of history and art. Architecture is a big one for me lately, but there’s always a progression to something new.

Describe your personal style and how it influences your designs?
Eclectic but toned down. Practical but with a twist.

What is your all-time favourite purchase?
My inherited Pomellato ring from my mother. It always reminds me that great design is simple.

What wardrobe item should everyone invest in?
I’m a big believer in accessories. Add a finishing touch that elevates your look and gives you confidence: statement earrings, designer bag, well made shoes, quality eyewear.

Do you have a style rule you always obey?
Be authentic and creative with less.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I think the highlight is always perseverance: sticking to my path regardless of the highs and lows, and knowing in my gut that I will pull through whatever comes next.

What can’t you live without?
My family.

Finish this sentence – You would never catch me wearing…
A fanny pack!
