Biddie founded her feminine womenswear brand called Tuesday Label in 2015 after a lifetime spent in fashion, first in her family’s business then in her own career. With Tuesday Label, Biddie creates beautiful collections that are centred around dresses with versatility and modern dressing in mind. Her brand is currently stocked in several stores and boutiques throughout New Zealand with a charming pop-up shop for summer at Fortieth & Hurstmere in Takapuna.

We caught up with Biddie to find out more about her brand, what inspires her and what you would never catch her wearing.

Tell us about your latest collection?
Pre-Fall 2018 takes advantage of the last of the summer weather. I think that in February we all want something new, but we’re not ready for that full change of season.

So the colour palette starts moving towards more autumnal tones of reds, pinks, tans and navys, but the styling is still fresh enough to make the most of the sunshine.

There’s sleeveless pieces to show off bronzed skin, dresses for every occasion, pretty tops and fine knits to start layering up, and the most divine coloured leather jackets.

Oh, and your new favourite essential pant…

What made you become a designer?
Fashion sets my heart on fire! It consumes me. I couldn’t imagine working in any other industry.

I’ve always been a confident dresser and being a designer means I can create exactly what I want to wear!

What inspires you?
On both my side of the family and my husband’s side, I’m surrounded by strong, independent women.

We’re very different – ages/body types/personalities/careers, and I’m continually inspired to design clothes that work for all of us.

At a basic aesthetic level I’m crazy in love with nature – particularly the ocean, the countryside, and of course all things flowers.

Describe your personal style and how it influences your designs?
I would say ‘elevated casual’. I love wearing nice things ALL the time and change my shoes to fit the occasion rather than my clothes.

So it’s a revolving mix of beautiful dresses with ankle boots, sleek suiting with sneakers, and basic denim teamed with a stand out jacket.

Tuesday absolutely encompasses this versatility, and everything I design can be worn equally well with cute flats as it can be with killer heels. It just depends on what your plans are!

What is your all-time favourite purchase?
My ivory silk & hand-beaded Collette Dinnigan wedding dress, 12 years ago.

What wardrobe item should every woman invest in?
A well fitting blazer or go-to coat that can be thrown on over any outfit and instantly pulls it together. It makes you feel a million bucks with very little effort.

Do you have a style rule you always obey?
There has to be an element of polish. Whether it’s statement sunglasses, a bold lipstick, great hair, or beautiful nails.

Being polished lifts any look to next level, regardless of how casual.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
It’s really only early days and already there have been so many milestones! But I still clearly remember receiving my very first piece of feedback.

It was after the launch of my debut collection and a woman messaged to say she’d bought two Tuesday dresses at her local stockist and was in love with the brand. I had a little happy cry!

It was so wonderful to hear and it still means just as much to get those messages now.

What can’t you live without?
Fake tan!

Finish this sentence – You would never catch me wearing…
Drop crotch pants!
