Since her first debut album in 2007, Annabel Fay’s music career has gone from strength to strength. After recently returning from the US and being signed to EMI Publishing as a songwriter, Annabel Fay is soon to join the More FM Summer Vineyard Tour 2012.
FashioNZ caught up with Annabel Fay to talk about her career, tattoos and of course what she would never be caught wearing.
You have the More FM Vineyard Series coming up, is this your first year participating?
Yes it is and I am so overly excited to be involved. It’s been a goal of mine to be on the tour ever since I started in this industry so I am nervous but over the moon.
Do you have any rituals before performing?
I try not to speak to much… I am a chatterbox so I try to keep myself calm and focus on my show ahead.
Once you’ve finished the series what are your plans?
I have just finished up my third album so my concentration is very focused on getting that out there to everybody.
What has been your greatest achievement since your first debut album came out in 2007?
So far… I have done so many amazing things but last year I was signed to EMI publishing as a songwriter which was amazing considering I wasn’t a very confident writer.
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
Hopefully still singing and doing what I love. Music has been my world since I was 6 years old so it’s been a long love affair which I will always try to continue.
A little birdie told us you have tattoos, which one is your favourite?
Haha I have a few, but my favorite would be an Alice in Wonderland quote I have down my right rib cage. No one even knows it’s there… until now that is…
Who is your style icon and how have they influenced you?
I don’t really have a style icon per se. I have gone through SO many phases throughout the years that I have literally just figured out what works for my body and my personality.
Who is your favourite New Zealand designer?
I absolutely love Zambesi. Their style is so forward and always fits me like a glove. I have some pieces from them I have held on to for 7 or 8 years and still wear them.
If there was a fire, which item of clothing would you grab because you can’t live without?
My Vanessa Bruno blazer I bought last year. I have been wearing blazers since I was about 12 and I have never found one I love/ have thrashed so much.
Finish this sentence;
You would never catch me wearing….. kitten heels, satin or crop tops.
