Alana Clarke is the energetic owner and buyer of Lana Boutique which has become one of Takapuna's hottest shopping spots since it opened in 2013. Alana has an enviable eye for style that sees her loyal customer base regularly return to shop from her cleverly curated store.
We caught up with Alana to find out more about her boutique, what inspires her and what you would never catch her wearing!
Tell us about your latest collections in store?
We have gorgeous trans-seasonal pieces from Steele, Camilla, Maurie and Eve. And for the budget conscious there are new arrivals daily of hand-picked on-trend pieces from Miss Lana.
What made you start your own boutique?
I worked in fashion retail during my uni years, after graduating with a marketing and finance degree I spied a gap in the market for a niche boutique that gives clients not just fashionable attire, but expert consultation paired with a relaxed and beautiful in-store experience. The fit, the fabric and the feel are so much more difficult to attain online.
What inspires you?
The beautiful hardworking people I come in contact with every day – my clients and my gorgeous staff members!
Describe your personal style and how it influences your products and brand?
Classic with a twist and an element of something on-trend. Not everything that's currently fashionable suits every figure or colouring and I'm always mindful of this when selecting styles.

What is your all-time favourite purchase?
That would have to be my new Valentino Rockstud heels in nude – a present to myself after lots of long hours over Xmas and New Year! Not only are they a statement shoe I also plan on wearing them with a very girly off the shoulder dress from Steele – they make any outfit a bit more edgy!
What wardrobe item should every woman invest in?
A good quality leather handbag and of course the shoes too! (we can never have enough shoes!)
Do you have a style rule you always obey?
Never reveal lots of leg and cleavage in the same outfit.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
There have been a few – celebrating two years of LB last year. The highly successful fashion shows and VIP nights. But really the highlights are often every day when my client tries on an outfit for a big event and she looks fantastic, her eyes shine and she knows she's nailed it!
What can’t you live without?
A few years ago I would have said 'My Mum' – but now I'd have to say my boyfriend!
