Joshua Jang founded contemporary urbanwear label ISBIM (I Still Believe In Miracles) in 2006 and the designer recently revived his label for the current Summer season. ISBIM relaunched with a runway/installation event on Fort Lane last week with a packed crowd keen to see what he and his team had to offer with the return of the brand.

We caught up with Joshua to find out more about his brand, what inspires him and what you would never catch him wearing!

Tell us about your latest collection?
We labelled it ‘STILL’ S/S18 collection. It’s our 10th year collection (yes, we had some breaks in between) and we believe we are ‘still’ ISBIM that carries its initiatives and the philosophy that has been set 10 years ago. It’s a Spring/Summer 18 collection and contains a versatile high end streetwear vibe alongside pop cultural elements that the designer comprehended in creative perspectives towards the collection. Team aimed to use and create the original fabrications that has been used throughout the collection, such as digital camo, hand drawing prints on fabric, fabric patch and so on. It is a special collection to the team in many ways.

What made you become a designer?
I have failed to create the constant revenue with previous job which I loved much. So I had a thought that what else that I will not repeat the same mistakes and I can possibly love it more. People usually call this occupation as a designer however to me it’s more like a creator. Because the whole ISBIM thing created a new life for me at this stage.

What inspires you?
Simply, other Designers and Artists. They inspire me always good and bad.

Describe your personal style and how it influences your designs?
It changes all the time but at the moment, great tailoring and fine fabrication play a huge part of the garments that I choose to wear. I have learnt from many great designers and they are the main elements that influence my collections dominantly.

What is your all-time favourite purchase?
I honestly have not bought it yet. I wish I can one day.

What wardrobe item should everyone invest in?
For boys, well-fitted dark grey suit. For girls, the boys with well-fitted dark grey suit on.

Do you have a style rule you always obey?
Balance it up always. Reasonably slim jeans with roomy top, monotone outfit with pointy colour accessories. Things like that.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Same as my all time favourite purchase, it did not come to me yet I think. I still believe that a great highlight is upon my career and I work hard for it. Sounds corny but yes it’s my belief.

What can’t you live without?
Bible.

Finish this sentence – You would never catch me wearing…
Vetements, my arms are not too long for it.
