Stolen Girlfriends Club have launched the brand’s first clothing collection for 2022 in stores and online which pays homage to cult ’90s television show The X-Files. Aptly titled Make Me Believe, creative director Marc Moore was inspired by the show’s main characters, FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Sculley, reimagining them in a modern world, both before and after an alien abduction.
It’s a fascinating place to create a collection from with explorations of the paranormal, conspiracies and unexplained phenomena lingering in the mind of the design team as this collection was brought to life. Think science fiction meets film noir with Stolen’s signature swagger. The brand have leaned into the quintessential ’90s style of the two FBI agents with pressed suits, boxy shoulders, crisp shirts and ties complete with pocket-protectors offering up just the right level of office-inspired style.
While out in the field inspired attire takes a cue from protective outerwear featuring tactical detailing, with reflective highviz materials and oversized shapes that are suitably practical. It wouldn’t be a Stolen collection without some more form fitting styles and fitted silhouettes are crafted with figure-sculpting materials and paneling that amps up the cool factor.
Stolen are known for their exclusive signature prints and this collection features an intriguing supernatural print showcasing paranormal inspired motifs with neon pops of colour similar to the infamous opening credits of The X-Files. An aptly alien-like colour palette of acid green, metallic silver, pitch black and vivid purple reigns supreme with high shine patent leather lending itself to sky-high platforms. A staple ’90s check print adds to the retro appeal of the range. Add in some athleisure inspired styles and you have an interesting take on gothic sportswear, who knew that was a thing but Stolen have made it work.
