On Friday we were shown the new Spring Summer 2012/13 Stella McCartney Lingerie collection at Lily & Louis, who’ve just acquired the contract to PR the brand as part of their work for Bendon Group.
The Stella McCartney Lingerie collection itself is as gorgeous as you would expect. As in the past, the 13 collections are cutely named after girls: we immediately were seduced by ‘Clara Whispering’ and its sophisticatedly saucy chemise, and ‘Fiona Popping’’s quirky, olde-world trim.
All new is the everyday range ‘Stella’ – five key bra shapes including new ‘Supernatural’, a completely wireless bra, and all in thin, light foam approximately 25% lighter than the average in the market. Stella launches with three different stories: Stella Smooth (as close as possible to ‘nude’ under clothing); Stella Lace (incorporating the sexy and Olympic-appropriate racer back) and Stella Mesh.
Black Friday knicker
Do you remember the Days of the Week knickers that the Stella McCartney brand launched with here? You can get the 2012 version in a ‘Flowers of the Week’ variant, with botanical embroidery for each day of the week. You sense a whisp of humour about the collection, personified in the Black Friday knicker – the rest of this group are on a pale pink ground.
Olympic knicker
Stella McCartney has famously designed the uniforms for all Team Great Britain athletes at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and you can have your own special souvenir in the form of her commemorative embroidered cotton knicker, complete with flag, gymnast and black London cab.
Finally, in an art-meets-life moment, we watched the Absolutely Fabulous Olympic special on Friday night. Poor Eddie had been barred from Stella McCartney’s store and on seeing the designer at a function, lunged at her shouting “I love you”! McCartney says out of the side of her mouth to her friends “this woman has been stalking me for ages.”
