Spring 2012: Top 5 Colour Trends

Here we go again – spring is just around the corner – and we here at FashioNZ are welcoming in the latest and greatest fashion trends, including the hottest colours that we?ll be seeing at NZFW, and beyond.

Spring style this year is all about turning heads, with super fun and chic colours galore.

Adding this season?s hues to your wardrobe is a surefire way to stay on trend. By picking out just one or two pieces in some of the colours below, you?ll have a completely updated look for spring time – without breaking the bank.

Coral Pink

Jill Stuart, Tory Burch, and Christian Siriano Spring 2012

This season, the classic pink shade is updated with a hint of orange – making for the perfect bright addition to any girl?s wardrobe. Coral is fabulous. It blends femininity and edginess, and makes for a great statement piece.

Try pairing with turquoise or mint green shades for an ultra-stylish combination.

And the best thing about coral pink? It looks great on most skin tones, mainly due to its mix of warm and cool hues.

Tangerine

Cynthia Rowley, Derek Lam, and Altuzarra Spring 2012

This bright hue boasts a highly-saturated orange with a reddish undertone, and is perfect for the warmer temperatures of spring. Tangerine is super fun and flirty, giving a nod to the bright shades of the 70s. It?s sure to attract lots of attention, so make sure the shades you pair it with match well. Pairing with black and darker shades of blue will make the tangerine pop, but adding lighter neutrals will work well also. Add gold jewellery for a finishing touch to your super fun spring outfit.

This colour is really bold, so if you?re feeling a little colour shy, start with a tangerine nail polish or accessory, and work from there.

Citron Yellow

This shade of bright yellow is once again a top colour trend for this spring (as well as summer!). The classic hue is clear, bold, and almost neon-like with its attention-grabbing intensity. Totally flirty and chic, this loud citron shade will have you ready to welcome the summer heat in style. Adding a citron yellow piece will also make your skin look more tan!

For a more subtle hint at this stylish shade, wear citron sandals or a jewellery piece – gorgeous!

Kelly Green

Emily Blunt in Oscar de la Renta

This bright green shade is definitely a head-turner. Pair with basic shades like black, navy, or white to really brighten up your look this spring. Or, go all out like Emily Blunt at this year?s SAG awards and rock a kelly green dress to one of spring?s many soirees!

Mint

Ralph Lauren Spring 2012

As well as bright neons, pastel colours are going to be big this season – but mint is the trendiest of the bunch. The frosty hue is a lovely mix of blue and green, giving off a light, airy vibe. It looks particularly fabulous with yellow, pink, and teal (hello, colour blocking!).
