Splashes of Colour, Lyrics and layers

But the thing I love to layer the most are my fingers.

When the majority of my body is wrapped up underneath snuggly folds of goodness, mostly black, my fingers are bare and in dire need of colour and life.

Luckily, some of my favourite jewellery designers hail from right here in New Zealand so I have good access to sparkly delights. I will take this moment to fill you in on some of my faves, which will hopefully become your faves too:

d_luxe: My fingers are often laden with d_luxe jewels and sometimes, I even have to ‘rock, paper, scissors’ with myself  just to choose which jewels to wear that day. d_luxe’s latest collection is, I believe, one of their best yet. A collaboration with illustrator Kelly Thompson made for some of the best campaign photography I have seen in a while and my favourites include the Sleeping Sunshine ring and the Four Feathers Headress ring. www.d-luxe.co.nz

Meadowlark: I love the simplicity of Meadowlark’s designs, which maintain a timelessness that means this season’s jewels will still be worn in years to come. My favourite thing about Meadowlark’s current offering is their kick ass skull jewellery box! Check them out here www.meadowlark.co.nz.

One of Spades: Mother of three, Nat Peri, started selling her homemade gems and jewels at the Little Big Markets in Mount Maunganui this summer and is now stocked in local store Square, on www.gransloosechange.co.nz and is available online through Felt. Her cute and quirky designs are made by hand, and with love, and Nat says she is inspired by creating memories for people who buy her products. Super sweet and priced extremely well. www.facebook.com/oneofspadesjewellery

I think jewellery looks best layered up large and with these three brands, you can’t go wrong. Now, if only the weather would get warmer so I can stack up bracelets as well!
