Silk & Steel recently released two elegant new collections in stores and online that add to their contemporary range of jewellery. The new collections titled Figaro (released last month) and Talisman (released this week) draw inspiration from vintage jewellery designs and designer Sarah Cotterall’s Italian heritage.
Figaro features classic jewellery styles with a signature Silk & Steel twist that offer modern options to elevate your outfit. The collection takes it’s name from the Figaro chain which is a classic Italian chain consisting of three smalls links followed by an elongated oval link. The Figaro chain is beautifully crafted into necklaces, earring and bracelets, that are available in gold and silver.
Silk & Steel specialises in creating jewellery that is easy to layer for a statement look and the Herringbone chain is perfect for layering with the Figaro chain. Next you could add the Twisted Hoops which are a nod to 80’s costume jewellery or the Savage Earrings that feature a hypnotic Tiger’s Eye gem, that hangs from a gold French loop ear hook.
The second collection from Silk & Steel’s Summer is Talisman which is a collection about hope, love, guidance and strength that was conceived during the nationwide lockdown earlier this year. The range is described as being ‘the product of a lightbulb moment, inspired by events close to the heart and a generous and meaningful gift’.
A Talisman is said to have magical powers that bring luck and protection to its wearer, it carries powerful symbols and gemstones that embody guiding and protective qualities. For this collection, Sarah has chosen four symbols and gemstones; a swallow with aquamarine for Hope, a sacred heart with rose quartz embodies Love, five stars are set with white topaz to guide the wearer and inspire to Dream, and a snake curled into an infinite ‘8’ shape with black spinel represents Strength and protection.
Silk & Steel’s latest jewellery is definitely worth treasuring with each piece is designed as a modern heirloom that can be passed down to future generations, much like the gift that inspired the collection itself.
