The elegant new Spring/Summer 21-22 collection from taylor is in stores and online now with the chic new range titled Obscured Reflection. Creative director Vicki Taylor and her design team drew inspiration from our incredible New Zealand landscapes this season, looking to the shapes of our mountains echoed against the sky and the reflective waters of our lakes as a starting point for the range. The taylor team were also drawn to the windblown cloud formations that stream across the skies and the mountains that fade effortlessly into layers behind each other, that then fall seamlessly into our lakes and rivers that wind between them.
That scenic inspiration lends itself to a striking colour palette for the new season with the shades of our land and sea highlighted throughout the collection. The olive green reflected in the mountains and the beautiful soft delta blues are a perfect complement to taylor’s signature monochromatic hues. The brand excel at layered dressing full of different textures, shapes, and styles to create a cohesive and fluid look.
The cleverly cut and draped pieces in this range are influenced by the sharp peaks of Aotearoa’s steep mountains which are mirrored in the linear lines of the designs. The shards and folds of which create a ripple effect that can be worn effortlessly. The taylor team looked to the reflection of the rugged mountains into the water when designing the signature prints of this collection which were created in beautiful silks that are perfect for the slowly warming weather. Fabrications for this season including a lightweight summer wool, viscose and soft linen knits that are ideal for outdoor events as we head into the summer season. For those after a statement, taylor’s stunning sequined looks are perfect for getting noticed.
Vicki Taylor hand selects taylor’s luxurious fabrics from renowned mills in Italy and Japan and the aqueous inspired silk prints are exclusive to this season’s taylor collection. The brand take great pride in manufacturing their garments responsibly, with the majority of the collection being made locally in New Zealand.
