Bags from Saben’s Pigment and Pixel collection for Spring/Summer 2017/18
Saben are springing into the new season with a stunning collection of luxurious leathergoods inspired by NZ artist André Hemer. The range is called ‘Pigment and Pixel’ and designer Roanne Jacobsen utilised her ‘love affair’ with Hermer’s paintings, which are cleverly made up of brush strokes which are part digital, part actual paint which creates a tension between the real and the virtual, as the basis for her designs. Jacobsen’s interpretation can be seen in the likes of the Matilda handbag, which features two-tone holographic leather that is both mushroom and khaki for a fascinating visual effect.
Perforated leather is used for the Camden, Baby Camden and Big Sis Tilly pieces which perfectly illustrated the collection title. The brushed gold and silver foil pieces that include Lotte, Indie and Poppy also reference the artistic inspiration of the collection. Jacobsen has gone for a colour palette of khaki, steel blue and porcelain that feels utilitarian and modern, emphasised by the brilliant details.
Saben’s Pigment and Pixel collection is available in stores and online now and is priced from $69 to $589.
