Beloved local brand Saben have released their gorgeous new collection for Autumn/Winter 2020 in stores and online today. The luscious range is full of rich wintry hues and is aptly named Winter Garden. Designer and founder Roanne Jacobson knows how important it is for a woman’s bag to be not just stylish but also to be functional and help store all the essentials.

With that in mind Saben’s latest collection offers lots of modern options that definitely spark joy too. Customer favourites Frankie, Fifi, Tilly, Big Sis’ and Matilda all return in stunning new hues this season while there’s some elegant new shapes too. “The tones of ‘Winter Garden’ really speak up, whether they’re bold and brave or soft and subtle,” says Roanne. “Inspired by the women who wear them, more playful tones have become paramount as our customers become more confident with colour.”

Those beautiful new season colours include fiery Rosewood, Prussian, Raisin, Olive and Camel while classic black is still popular as ever. This season Saben have embued it with texture such as oversized pebble grain and embossed croc while new hue Truffle is sure to be popular with its easy to wear grey tone. Sculptural shapes come from new styles Odile and Liv which add further sophistication to this covetable range.

To accompany the collection Saben shot a charming still life series that was styled by Karlya Smith and photographed by Belinda Merrie. The handbags are composed with winter produce making for a witty play on the concept of forbidden fruit. These bags are definitely as tempting although only good things will come from a Saben purchase as each piece is designed to last for many seasons to come.

“Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of considered effort,” adds Roanne. “We spend most of our time and energy perfecting clever design. Every single detail from material to technique is thought through with obsessive attention.”
