Saben recently opened an elegant new flagship store on Newmarket’s stylish Teed Street which showcases the brand’s full range of handbags, accessories and their latest luggage. Saben are known for their modern yet timeless approach to design and the new store is a reflection of the brand’s sophisticated style.
Designed by Buster Caldwell of Wonder Group, Saben’s store is inspired by the natural world, with earthy, neutral hues that feel warm and welcoming. Saben founder and creative director Roanne Jacobson wanted to create a blank canvas against which the bags would shine, and the textures and tones of the store are inspired by Roanne’s childhood growing up on Sydney’s northern beaches.
“Connecting to the earth is so important for me as a person and I loved the idea that the colours and textures could be grounding and earthy but still feminine,” says Roanne Jacobson. “The colours we chose were inspired by the natural colours of a make up palette, highlighted throughout the space, blurring the lines between nature and beauty.”
Much like Saben’s handbags, every detail has been carefully thought out and designed with intent. The elegant store space features bespoke, hand-crafted interiors, created by EcoConstruction, Blanc Industries and Pilkington Interiors. The textures and staggered layers were inspired by a Spanish apartment complex.
‘This reference helped us create a space that has a good amount of the interior texturing, it’s the perfect source reference,” adds Buster Caldwell. “Although a bit unruly in form, we’ve made sure to reference the more controlled elements to ensure the smaller interior has a feeling of thoughtful curation.”
The new store also showcases the latest addition to Saben’s luxury luggage collection with new hue khaki featuring on the brand’s popular range of suitcases. The range uses luxury and quality materials at the intersection of function and style, creating suitcases that look like an accessory while acting as a necessity. There’s three sizes of suitcases on offer as well as favourite carryall Roma in fresh khaki. Saben will stylishly take you wherever you need to go this summer.
