Summer is fast approaching and Saben have just dropped their gorgeous High Summer collection lovingly titled Mirage. The range picks up on the concept of mindfulness which was the main feature of Saben’s Exhale Spring/Summer collection and takes it a step further for bold, statement-making designs.
“Mirage expresses magical contrasts that occur in even the most sun-drenched environments, life springs forth undaunted and bold,” says Roanne Jacobson, Saben’s creative director and founder. Bright poppy red demonstrates the energy of summer and is beautifully complemented by textured black python. The new pieces feature limited edition gunmetal hardware that is modern and slick, a contemporary alternative to gold. When paired with the dusty linen hues of the Exhale collection, it’s easy to see how the python embossed leather was inspired by the concept of sleek snakes in the desert.
The stunning campaign creatively captures the concept of the Mirage collection and was styled by Amber Armitage and shot by Wendy Fenwick at Flash Studios. Amber cleverly utilised natural settings from her own landscape work and overlaid the studio shots with wonderful results. This shoot also features some of Saben’s Summer pieces alongside the High Summer pieces to help Amber to create the campaign’s narrative.
“The concept for Mirage was twofold, an initial studio shoot that created the idea of landscape and isolation through strong horizon lines, beautiful light and rich texture. The second stage was to add transparent layers of sea, sky and tussock previously photographed, to create the feeling of Mirage. To me the images have the feeling of a dream or memory, soft muted tones, slightly hazy and not quite real.” says Amber.
Big Sis Tilly and Mae were very popular in Exhale so they’ve returned in this range in crisp white which is great for Summer dressing. Tilly with a strap is also available white for High Summer too. Tilly is one of those versatile pieces that is a wardrobe must have, it’s a hands-free way to move through Summer with ease and style.
Metallic bronze is a luxurious addition to the new range and is seen on the elegant new Porter tote, an oversized carryall made in double-faced leather. The exterior is deluxe pebbled black while the inside is a mesmerising bronze. The alluring hue also features on the special Poppy pouch and the ultimate wearable wallet, Tilly with a strap gets a bronze update as well. The bronze is subtle enough for everyday, and glamorous enough for evening occasions too.
The 90’s has had a big influence on fashion over the past few seasons and new style Walker is a sophisticated take on the classic bum-bag. It’s a must-have piece for Summer that is an easy way to carry just the essentials in supple black leather. The 90’s minimalists would definitely approve of this staple piece.
The Yasmin tote in 100% cotton is a perfect way to round out Saben’s High Summer collection and was a popular in choice in Summer so has returned in a bold red stripe. Totes are indispensible in Summer and this one has a breezy resort feel while adding a dynamic pop of colour to your look.
