Runway D.I.Y – Michelle Yvette Fashion Show

Naughty Never Felt so Nice

Tucked away in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, Michelle Yvette showed her winter 2010 collection last week at Home Bar, as well as a sneak preview of what she promises for summer 2011. Fans were in awe amongst a sea of sequins and tulle, fabulously outlandish dresses mixed with beautifully tailored jackets, sheer stockings and suspender belts styled by Michelle and Christina Roys.  It was fantastic to see models smiling as they teetered down the red carpet in fabulous heels from Mi Piaci. The makeup was by Bella Vi, and consisted of bright red lips and fresh dewy skin. The soft sexy hair was styled by Foxie Style Salon on Dominion Rd. Delicious but delicate scoops of Kapiti Ice Cream were passed around on wafers and the Frangelico cocktails were flowing freely. Guests left with goodie bags containing mini Frangelico, spa vouchers, Tebe lip glosses, Antipodes sachets and a wealth of other powder room delights.

Runway Look – Naughty and Nice
The look was very 40’s inspired – perfectly defined bright red lips paired with soft dewy skin and lots of lashes.

Your Look
The idea behind this look is all about creating perfection, while keeping it natural and wearable.
Skin
Apply concealer where needed and to cover any dark circles around the eyes, nose and lips. Finish off with a tinted moisturiser to give the skin a fresh dewy appearance.
Eyes
Apply a light bronze to the lids to give a dewy appearance to the eyes. Define the crease of your eyes using a matte light brown eyeshadow, starting at the outer corner of your lash line and blending up and in along the crease of the eye (where your eye socket is, just under your brow bone). Line the top lash line using a black kohl liner. Apply two coats of mascara to finish (or skip the second and apply a set of falsies). Lightly define the brows using a shadow or pencil.
Cheeks
Use a highlighting powder like Star Dust from Bella Vi just on the top of the cheekbones to intensify the dewiness of the skin.
Lips
Line the lips using a red liner to create definition. Fill in using a matte red lipstick. Apply a fine coat of gloss in the centre of the bottom lip to give fullness.

Pro Tips
Create the perfect pout by applying concealer to the lips first before you line them. This will intensify the brightness of the red and make it last longer.

When applying eyeliner, it should be thinnest at the inner corner and thickest in the middle of the eye for a rounded effect. You can create a flick at the outer corner if you like using an angle brush.

Pair this look with voluminous loose curls and you’re ready for cocktails at Tiffany’s!
