RUBY have come up with a new way to connect their followers with their favourite RUBY styles with the brand’s Sewing Class initiative. Recognising that learning new skills is always good and that there are going to be many people with more time on their hands for a while the brand are selling patterns for five of their popular styles. The patterns are at three different levels – beginner, intermediate and advanced with each pattern offering the maker the chance to learn new sewing skills. Sewers can use the fabric of their choice to make their RUBY style with sizes 6 – 16 on offer.
“At RUBY we have been thinking a lot about ways that we can take real steps to becoming a more circular business and us selling our patterns to customers is one solution,” says RUBY General Manager and Liam Designer, Emily Miller-Sharma. “With us all in lockdown, spending much more time at home it really was the perfect time to test the waters – and wow what a response! Genuinely we have been blown away.”
“I learned to sew by putting fabric on my bedroom floor, lying on top of it and tracing around my body to make the ‘pattern’. I got some much joy out of mucking around with fabrics and my sewing machine as a teenager and I love it that we’re giving our customers the opportunity to experience that feeling too. It’s so cool to think about everyone working away in their homes, playing around with colours and textures themselves – it makes me feel connected to our customers on a whole new level.”
RUBY initially launched a small amount of three patterns earlier in the month but the demand was so overwhelming that the patterns sold out within a few hours of being announced. This time they’re offering more styles with a slip dress, skirt, camisole, mini-dress and frilled top available to choose from. The patterns are currently available to shop online with delivery commencing as soon as the current lockdown restrictions are lifted. Happy sewing!
