Auckland’s most exciting new retail and hospitality precinct Commercial Bay will finally open its doors on Thursday 11th June after being delayed due to the nationwide lockdown. The much anticipated $1 billion development in the CBD was due to open in the last week of March and retailers will be relieved to finally open the doors to the public.

Commercial Bay offers over 120 food, beverage and retail options from some of the best local and international brands including a slew exciting new concept stores. Owner Precinct Properties has revealed that the precinct will also be home to an estimated 10,000 workers once the striking new PwC Tower is completed, making Commercial Bay the largest office and retail precinct in the city centre.

“Commercial Bay is an ambitious urban transformation on the shores of the Waitematā that represents a range of firsts for New Zealand,” says Precinct Properties Chief Executive, Scott Pritchard. “It is unlike any development seen before in this part of the world, with an international quality retail and dining offer that is comparable with any gateway city. With vibrant laneways and large open-air spaces, shoppers will be able to discover all the precinct has to offer in a safe but lively environment.”

“It is a crucial time for Commercial Bay to be opening as New Zealand kickstarts its economy after lockdown. Commercial Bay is a symbol of New Zealand’s road to recovery in a post Covid-19 economy and the revitalisation of the city centre. We are incredibly proud to support local businesses as well as first-to-market retailers as they open and get back on their feet after a really tough few months.”

Precinct Properties is committed to ensuring Commercial Bay provides a safe environment for all workers, diners and shoppers visiting the precinct.

“Of course, we never planned to be opening under these circumstances, however we are absolutely delighted to welcome Aucklanders to a new and exciting part of their city where they can shop, eat, drink and experience all Commercial Bay has to offer,” adds Pritchard.

Shoppers can look forward to a carefully curated mix of leading international and local fashion and retail stores, including first-to-market names for New Zealand fashion when Commercial Bay opens. The precinct will also become a destination for foodies with Harbour Eats, an innovative New York-style food hall with vendors inspired by international gastronomic precincts, sure to surprise and delight all tastes and budgets.

The opening programme for Commercial Bay will be announced soon with the precinct officially opening at 9am on Thursday 11th June.
