Red Carpet Trends: Golden Globes

With the Golden Globes officially kicking off the 2012 award season in Hollywood, it’s time to start looking to the red carpet for what we can expect when it comes to this year’s biggest trends.

Three styles in particular stood out at this award ceremony, with plenty of celebs giving us loads of inspiration when it comes to our own outfits.

Crimson Hues

The Globes’ red carpet was filled with different variations of the vampy hue last Sunday. From deep burgundies to pretty pinks and merlots, many stars chose floor-length versions of these exciting red tones for their Golden Globes appearances.

Shades of Champagne

In a sharp contrast to the fiery reds, plenty of celebrities embraced the art of subtlety with nude shades on the red carpet. Peach, sandstorm, and blush tones looked stunning, and stood out fabulously. Don’t let the understated palette fool you, these dresses were just as glam as their more colourful counterparts.

Lots of these dresses featured corset bodices too, which will definitely be a trend to look out for on the runway, and many a red carpet to come!

Fabulous Fishtails

Flirty, feminine, and super sophisticated, fishtail hems were a popular choice for the Golden Globes. Fishtails add body and structure to what would be an otherwise ‘safe’ hemline, creating a unique fashion statement and a pop of unexpected chic-ness. Many of my favorite gowns from the Golden Globes featured fishtail hems, and stylish stars like Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore, and Paula Patton rocked the trend on the red carpet.

Like every award season, 2012 will have lots of exciting trends developing throughout the current months. And I, along with every other fashion spectator, can’t wait to see what the next red carpet brings us!
