Springtime calls for all things fruity, flowy and fun. Its a time for new beginnings, warmer days and playing around with new beauty trends, of course! The runways of New York, London and NZ all showcased some playful and bold Spring/Summer hair and makeup and what better way to celebrate the warmer months than to play around and try something new. So ditch your moody lipsticks, dark lined eyes and heavy foundation for pops of colour and fresh skin, switch the beachy waves for a more textured shaggy style or try out a classic bun because these are some of the biggest spring beauty trends for 2019.
Twisted top knot
This was arguably one of the biggest trends I saw on the runways of NZFW this year. The twisted top knot can be worn a variety of different ways, from a modern take on the Zulu knot to a French chic twist. All you need to do to achieve this look is to slick back the hair into a high or low pony and twist it any way you like, the more creative you can get the better.
The low bun
A low bun that sits at the nape of the neck will complement every face shape according to hairdresser, Mana Dave. Another very easy look to achieve, just slick the hair back, part it in the middle or pop it into a side part for something a little different. Then create whatever kind of bun you like, whether it be structured, tight or messy and sit it at the nape of your neck.
The Shaggy cut
Channel your inner Miley Cyrus because this cut seems to be making it big this season. Forget pretty, beachy waves or sleek and straight. This style is a new take on the 80’s shaggy cut. Think a choppy fringe and textured wavvy hair with lots of layers and lots of edge.
Matte pastel lips
Although nude, glossy lips have big a big trend lately, the might need to move over to make room for a brighter shade. Pastels are so in this season and that was seen all over the runways of Fashion Week with models sporting hues of purple and pink pastel lips.

Rainbow eyeshadow
Forget about a smoky eye, it’s time to try something a little more playful and fun and this trend is all about experimentation. There is no real rule for this look, just pick out your favourite colours, pop them all on with an eyeshadow brush then blend them into each other with a fluffy brush for a cool watercolour effect.
Colourful mascara
Another fun and bold look this season is colourful mascara. Like with all of these looks, you’ll want to keep the rest of your makeup minimal and choose a statement piece. Soft, dewy skin and a nude lip will compliment your favourite shade of mascara, then go crazy with the layers for a bright, chunky and spidery lash look.
