It’s that time of year when calendars start to fill up with end of year functions, work parties, pre-Christmas catch ups, and of course New Year’s Eve. The weather is getting more and more summery and we’re getting in to what is basically party season here in New Zealand, so it’s time to talk party dresses. Here are some that are available both in New Zealand and online, frocks for every kind of function.
Ruffle dresses are in in a big way this season. What’s not to love – they’re soft, floaty and feminine, and ideal for spring and summer. You’ll find a lot of different colours and patterns available, from softer tones through to bold, and some seriously striking patterns as well.
Embroidered Tea Length Dress, $149.99 from City Chic (left), Little Mistress Plus Embellished Top Dotty Mesh Maxi Dress, $172.77 from ASOS (centre), Temptress Dress, $139.99 from City Chic (right).
A little black dress (or a maxi!) is a great go to at any time of year. Go for something with great detailing to make your outfit a little more dressy and put on your dancing shoes!
Love bright colours? As we head into the warmer months, now is the perfect time to go bold with your colour. If you’ve ever seen my wardrobe you’ll know that I favour mostly black all year round, but this is the time I like to sneak in a little something brighter.
We all know that florals have been massive this year and they’re not going away any time soon. Embroidered florals, dark florals, light and bright florals … take your pick because there is a veritable garden out there to choose from!
Bright Lights Dress, $159.99 from City Chic (left), Atmos&Here Curvy Aurora Whimsical Cold Shoulder Dress, AUD $119.95 from The Iconic (centre), Boohoo Plus Paige Metallic Pleat Wrap Dress, $70.00 from boohoo.com (right).
If there was ever a time of year that you could go full on glitz and glam, this is it. Metallics, sequins, jewels, full on flounce – now is the time. Don’t be afraid of going for sparkly accessories too, there is no such thing as too much!
