There’s nothing better than a cheeky pair of underwear to perk up your day, and that’s exactly what Robyn’s Undies do. At $59.95 each, the pop-up collection is ethically and sustainably made, with the first batch of profits going towards The Aunties charity – a South-Auckland initiative that provides resources for vulnerable women and children who have experienced domestic violence.
Yellow NZ connected with actress Robyn Malcolm mid last year to see if she would help inspire local businesses in NZ to go digital. Combined with her long held passion for underwear, the partnership was a no-brainer. Running the business on low cost digital tools from Yellow, Robyn’s Undies shows Kiwis with a business dream that they can get online too. For Robyn, her business means she’s also helping women in need.
“I met Jackie Clark from the Aunties, and then three of the women she’s working with through Yellow,” says Robyn. “Jackie started this organisation to provide a means for women who have experienced the most extreme levels of domestic, physical, emotional and psychological abuse to get a leg up, in the most practical of terms: what they need and when they need it. Jackie is an unbelievable powerhouse in her own right and provides a real example to these women of how you can stand in your own power and come back from the most extreme of circumstances. She’s an utter inspiration, as are the women she works with.”
Alongside Robyn, the underwear is modelled by volunteers from the Aunties.
“It was a real privilege to work with them and to be able to find a way with Yellow to create a product/brand which directly speaks to women supporting other women, even in such a simple way as this, it felt really right,” adds Robyn.
The collection adapts the vibrant artwork of NZ artist Karl Maughan, a close friend of Robyn’s. Printed on breathable, ethical, and sustainable eco-certified bamboo using water-based inks, Robyn’s Undies are 100% guilt-free.
“Every pair is thoughtfully designed to make every woman feel like she’s got a friend in low places. The vibrancy and deliciousness of Maughan’s patterns will make you smile at your own bum every morning!” says Robyn.
