Looks from Penny Sage’s Autumn/Winter 2019 Fernweh collection. Images supplied.
Penny Sage‘s new collection called Fernweh is in stores and online now and features a beautiful range of pieces to transition you into the cooler weather. Designer Kate Megaw was inspired by the German word Fernweh which is derived from fern (“far”) + Weh (“pain”) and is literally translated as farsickness or longing for far-off places. For this range that means a suitably dreamy collection of pieces in Penny Sage’s signature winsome style. The designer creates uncomplicated pieces that have a slightly retro feel but a totally modern appeal that makes them accessible and covetable.
This collection mixes softer tones of pink, lemon and mint with bright red, blue and khaki for a charming effect. There are lots of fun coloured denim pieces on offer as well as soft ribbed knits, striped tops and classic gingham and plaid. Dresses and skirts either sweep to midi length or sit mid-thigh for a playful mini length. The new Sophia dress is a gorgeous shirt dress with a high collar in textured raw silk that is a standout piece, not to mention the equally brilliant Sophy jumpsuit with its zip front and paneled bodice. Kate also collaborated with local artist Imogen Taylor for a special knit that adds further appeal to this collection.
