Penny Sage look on the runway at New Zealand Fashion Week 2016
Oversized duster jackets, sheer panels and ethereal silhouettes, we couldn’t get enough of Penny Sage’s collection, designed by Kate Megaw. There were plenty of earthy tones that make a change from the signature black and allow us all to inject a bit of colour back into our monochromatic wardrobes.
There were some gorgeous trench coats on the runway in their signature beige colour as well as black. The trend for coats focuses on longer, almost ankle-length designs in lightweight fabrics.
Structured pieces like the playsuits and blouses were given a playful twist with their sheer panelling and cut-out back details. A range of fabrics complemented an earthy colour palette. Chiffon, wool blends and silks all made their way down the runway in a collection that wouldn’t look out of place on the set of a Sofia Coppola film or a Juergen Teller editorial.
Penny Sage’s collection was dreamy yet down to earth and a perfect blend of structured and relaxed tailoring. We will be keeping our eyes peeled for these staple pieces that will be high on our wish-lists for next winter.
Beauty Notes: Effortless chic, no makeup-makeup looks. It’s an art form at NZFW.
Hot Item: Any of the playsuits. We couldn’t get enough of them. We also loved the statement earrings the models were sporting as well.
