Looks from the latest Papa Clothing release
There’s a beautiful mindset behind Papa Clothing, and the brand’s recent Wave III release embodies the essence of its attitude towards sustainability and community.
Combine this with the importance of natural fibres and a dedication to all garments being designed and made in Aotearoa, and Papa Clothing stands in its own unique space, under the careful guidance of founder and designer Keva Rands.
Raised in an eco-village in Northland, Keva draws inspiration from her ancestral homelands of Fiji, Samona, Tongareva, and Hawai’i.
“Papa is a community brand with inclusivity and the environment at its core. Inclusivity to us means amplifying the beauty of those who are often marginalised by the fashion industry, especially those within the queer and Pasifika communities that the Papa brand has roots in,” says Keva.
Everything in the Papa collection is made from 100% natural fibres: linen, cotton, wool, and silk, allowing garments to break down organically at the end of their lifecycle.
Wave III is gender neutral with various styles that suit many different body shapes and aesthetics.
“Heavy cottons, wools, and dark colours have been chosen to give a sense of strength and security in the garments during these variable and sometimes difficult times that we are facing in Aotearoa.
“Papa is released in Waves rather than collections to limit waste and avoid making more than we need to. This is an attempt to tackle the over-saturation of clothing and work to a ‘slow fashion’ business model. Buying beautiful statement pieces periodically is better for the health of the planet and your wallet.”
The new Papa Clothing collection is available online now.
