NZ Fashion Weekend is back for 2018 from Friday 31st August to Sunday 2nd September at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre. The biggest week of the year for New Zealand fashion wraps up with an exciting programme of runway shows and events that are all available to the public.
Opening night on Friday sees popular retailer Superette headline with their first ever weekend show. The brand will present some not to be missed limited edition collaborations from Ksubi, Bassike, P.E. Nation, Dylan Kain, Ragdoll LA, Amber Sceat. Superette are also running a shop the runway activation so ticket holders will be able to shop their favourite looks online.
The always incredible Zambesi will headline Saturday night with a stellar show in their inimitable style that will no doubt sell out quickly. Augustine have already sold out their Saturday show and are sure to bring a rainbow of colour and sequins to the fashion weekend runway. PIA will also be showcasing their latest colourful collection and you can find a mix of popular Ponsonby designers at the Ponsonby Presents show. Leading local magazines Fashion Quarterly and Miss FQ, New Zealand Weddings Magazine, Little Treasures and Good Magazine are all presenting cleverly curated shows themselves with Good Magazine focusing on ethical fashion brands.
There’s two seminars on the schedule this year with FashioNZ presenting the Future of fashion: In conversation with New Zealand’s leading fashion experts on Friday morning which you can find out more about here. The panel includes Kathryn Wilson, Kelly Coe from Augustine, Maggie Hewitt from Maggie Marilyn, Tanya Carlson, Murray Bevan from Showroom 22 and Belinda Watt from Whitecliffe College of Art and Design. Simply You’s editor Marcell Gull is also presenting a seasonal style seminar on Saturday afternoon.
Don’t miss the Resene Designer Runway shows which feature key pieces from every designer on the New Zealand Fashion Week schedule. The weekend closes with a wonderful showcase by Mercy Hospice, that is styled by leading fashion and celebrity stylist Sammy Salsa, with garments chosen from hospice shops across Auckland and ticket proceeds going to Mercy Hospice.
A new experience for NZFW and NZ Fashion Weekend is the VIP Sky Box which is sure to be exciting. It’s perched at the end of the runway and high above the crowd – offering a premium, once in a lifetime experience for guests. Tickets to the Sky Box include a luxury goody bag and a glass of Beau Joie champagne.
This year also introduces a new dining experience, Fashion Plate, to NZ Fashion Weekend. It will offer a selection of beautifully presented canapés with attendees able to select between a brunch, lunch, high tea or cocktail session. Each one is tailored to fit within the NZFW schedule, so attendees can enjoy an exciting meal without missing out on the excitement of the weekend’s runway shows.
As always there is unmissable shopping on offer with the ever popular Designer Pop Up Sale offering discounted clothing, shoes and accessories. This year the General Collective joins NZ Fashion Weekend offering a showcase of 14 brands, curated exclusively for NZ Fashion Weekend. Beauty fans must stop by The Beauty Hub which offers event-goers the chance to experience an array of leading brands while immersing themselves in the hottest new products and trends in the beauty industry.
